can no longer export original FIT data

This started to happen about a week, at first I thought it was temporarily down for whatever reason. But I haven't been able to choose "Export Original" to get my fit data for the past week. Every time I try to export I get the "HTTP Status 403 - Forbidden" error as shown below.
Anyone knows what's going on?

  • I always save my .fit to my computer directly from the device so I always have them and don't have to rely on someone else. My devices connect directly to the computer through a usb cable so it's easy to grab the activities and other files with the computers file explorer.

    For those that use an ant stick and Garmin Express, I think there is a folder on your computer where Garmin Express sticks a copy of successfully uploaded activity files. Same thing if you are still using the old ant agent/garmin communicator software for uploads, just a different location. Might be a hidden folder so if you do a search make sure hidden files and folders are included.
  • Yes physically connecting my watch to the computer and transfer the FIT files is what I do now, but that doesn't explain why the "Export Original" feature on garmin connect is no longer working... is yours working?

    I'm also using the Fenix 3, which serves as my activity tracker and workout watch, I just let it automatic upload through bluetooth & wifi, so most of the time I stays on my wrist 24x7 except occasionally charging every few days to a week or so. I would rather not having to take it off daily after workout just to transfer the FIT files.
  • I don't use Garmin Connect. I certainly would not depend on Garmin or anyone else to save my files for me. Their policies can change at their whim. Typically if I were running a website I would not save the original data either. There is much data in the .fit file that is not needed to display the information they give you.
  • GC modern Export Original working fine here...windows 8.1 and firefox...


    Interesting, it is a browser issue. I use google chrome. When i switched to Safari, it worked fine. Then I logged out Garmin Connect from Chrome and logged back in, now Chrome is working as well. thanks for the hint!
