I play soccer and it frustrates me I cannot even select soccer as a sport type. There are many other sports similar where rules forbid jewellery. Surely we should be able to select these cannot be too hard to add sport types to the selectable lists.
I wear my FR610 for Tennis - and just put other in the activity type and put tennis as part of the title. Not sure what you mean about jewellery are you saying many sports don't let you waer the watch?
Perhaps Pitz66 refers to sports where regulations forbid participants to wear jewellery, watches and the like because they could hurt other participants with them. Some pools even don't allow swimmers to wear watches for that reason. I don't think that that is the reason these sports are left out of the selectable sport types on Garmin devices though.
I agree that it would have been nice to have more selectable sport types, because if most of your activities fall into the "Other" category it can be difficult to figure out what was what on Garmin Connect. But what I personally miss most is the ability to define what sensors are recorded and what data is displayed on Garmin Connect, for instance having cadence from a foot pod during an activity of type Other (cadence from foot pod is only displayed for a Run activity). The data is there in the FIT file, why not let the user chose if it should be displayed or not.
For example I don't want to use the Run type activity for Walking or Nordic Walking, because the Fenix 2 will then incorrectly assess my VO2Max. But I do want cadence, to evaluate my stride length. Just a bit more flexibility to configure display options on Garmin Connect would solve this.
