Vitality points

I have purchased a new Forerunner 15 and connected to my UK Vitality account, to ensure I earn vitality points. Problem is it is only syncing my steps and not my calories burned.

As I rarely achieve 10,000 - 12,000+ steps and don't like wearing the watch all day, I relied on my calories burned within 30 mins or 60 mins to get my vitality points.

I called Vitality, but they couldn't help and pushed me back to Garmin!

The calories count shows on my watch and on my garmin connect account, but doesn't transfer to Vitality.

Can someone help me please?!

Many Thanks,

If you really think that sending negative feedback helps you burning more Calories, why not. Perhaps it indeed raised your heart rate (HR), and hence you will get some more.

As long as your device has a HRM, the burned Calories are calculated primarily on the basis of the HR, so if you do not get enough calories for your steps, it means you do not make sufficient effort to have the HR raised above the resting average. Other factors influencing the Calories are your personal data in Settings » User Profile - age, gender, height, weight, and the activity class. And then, at walking, the pace has an influence too. At a slow pace walking, you won't get any high number of burned Calories.

  • ... also, if you do not wear the HRM all day and night, you do not allow the device monitoring your resting HR, and hence the recorded resting HR average is too high, and hence you will get less Calories for any effort. You have to wear the HRM all the time, for accurate results. It is explained in the User Manual.

  • Hi,

Further to this thread, what should one be trying to do in order to achieve the Vitality points? Burning a set percentage / number of calories depending on the data in the User Profile?
