Garmin Communicator No Longer Supports Chrome??

Worked fine when I tried to connect two days ago, now saying it no longer supports Chrome. What?! Since when?! I don't see any threads on here about it.
  • The threads are there. It's been like that for ages.
  • And you've got it the wrong way around. It's the browsers no longer supporting plug ins ... http://www.pcworld.com/article/2049366/firefox-and-chrome-give-browser-plug-ins-the-cold-shoulder.html

IE still works for the moment ...
  • I am not having any problems. I am currently on Modern using Chrome Version 42.0.2311.90 m. I also tried the Classic Connect and am having no troubles there.

Ya, it had been working even though apparently it was no longer supported - then stupid me had to go and mess with my Chrome Extensions and somehow it/I must've toggled something so GC recognized it as no longer being supported. :-/

Do Garmin have any idea what they are doing??? Do they test anything they release??? Chrome has a 63% browser share and their plugin no longer supports it??? Absolutely ridiculous, I am move convinced than ever that Garmin don't have a clue about software development.

I spent an hour yesterday trying to upload a new route to my Garmin 510 via Garmin Express. What a joke; updated firmware, update Garmin Express still receiving "There was an error syncing with garmin connect". Really? Do you think I could find out more about what the problem is?

GARMIN; It's not the responsibility of your customers to do your QA for you. I have better things to be doing than spending hours testing permutations of your incompatible software. Pull your finger out and show some respect to your customers who fork out hundreds of pound to buy your products!!!!
  • You're shooting the wrong horse. It's nothing to do with Garmin, all browsers are withdrawing support for plug ins due to security concerns.

As for your issue with express please post in the Express forum where the Garmin Express team can help.
  • Garmin has provided a solution/replacement for Garmin Communicator back before 2014. It's called Garmin Express. You need to install that and your activities will be sent automatically to Garmin Connect and if desired Strava and some other websites. It runs as a service on your computer and works independently from your web-browser. When I was using Garmin Express with my edge500 it worked flawlessly to get my activities to Garmin Connect. Between the time I connected my 500 to the usb cable and then opened my browser to Garmin Connect, then activities where already there.

Some people for some reasons have some issues with it working properly, but if you post the problem in the Garmin Express sub-forum, then actual Garmin rep's have been addressing those issues. There is a learning curve for some with Garmin Express as it does work differently and does more things.

Sounds good except that Garmin Express doesn't work with the eTrex-20. The solution Garmin gave me was to find the files on my GPS and import them manually. However, they wont share the directory structure or file name conventions, which makes working with the files on the device, manually, unreasonably hard.
