Calorie Differences Between Widgets

Example:

I've added to my Dashboard a Report for Active Calories. It says I burned 707 Active Calories from Yesterday.

My Total Calories Report for Yesterday says 810 Active Calories. This number agrees with my full page Activities tab under the Daily Summary.

My Goals section is where things REALLY go off the rails. It says I've burned a WHOPPING 1,290 Calories from All Activities for Today and Yesterday (I've burned basically no calories today, so a conservative 1,200 of them are from yesterday.)

This is reproducible every day, and they never sync up. Total Calories is always higher than the Active Calories report, and they are both always waaaaayyy lower than the Goals report.

It's hard to trust a product when it is not even agreeing with itself! I use these numbers for diet purposes. Help!
  • I've been moaning about this for months, and there are a few threads. It's a Garmin Connect issue, my 920XT is working fine. Garmin claim still to be working on a fix.......

One of the knock ons is that it breaks the reliability of data sent to MFP. On the 920 the issue is that steps seem to get double counted when they overlap time wise with an activity such as running or cycling.

Bit of a farce really, Garmin's hardware is fantastic but the software side ( Connect ) is a mess.
  • One of the main reasons people come to products like this is calorie counting.

How can we have any faith in the numbers if Garmin literally can't have their own widgets agree with each other. The differences range between 10 and 40%. And it doesn't matter if I've worked out or on an "off day", or whether I've used my Forerunner or Vivosmart. Always differences.

It's ridiculous and embarrassing for Garmin.
