Privacy: create a "privacy area" when creating a course from an activity?

Hi Everybody,

I don't think this is currently possible, so it may be a feature request.

I would like to be able to setup a "privacy area" when I create courses from an activity. What I mean by that is that everything around 500m to 1000m a specific lat/long (my house) should be removed from the course. Strava as such a feature, and I think it is necessary, otherwise everybody will know where I exactly live from my public courses that come from my activities.

Otherwise, what I tried to do is to edit a course that come from an activity and I tried to move the starting/ending markers, but I had no luck, it doesn't seem possible.

Disclaimer: I am new with Garmin Connect and the Edge device (have a edge 1000)

Thanks,
  • I see what you are saying but Strava does not really have this functionality as it doesn't let you create a course in quite the same way. It lets you create a route and then you can share that but I don't think that it enforces a privacy zone on a route but purely on an activity. I agree that activity privacy zones are needed in connect and there are several threads on the forum requesting it.

    Hi JsRunner,

Yes, thanks for making the distinction. It is right that this should be related to the activities, and this is the right way to do it. If the activities get modified in that way (with the privacy zone), then all the courses created from it will be fixed as well, so my problem get resolved :)

So yes I agree that this is related to the activities and not the courses

    Take care
