Hi!
I seem to have a problem updating my personal records on Garmin.connect. I use a forerunner 110 since 3 years now and i still love it. As a matter of fact, I really love the Garmin products, exept the Garmin connect interface. Because I'm already using it now for three years, and I've become much better in running than I was before, I've hope it would update my PR at the time I'll upload a new activity. This didn't seem to work automatically. After a bit of research through some websites and this forum, I've discovered that I possible had to change the privacy settings of my activities. First of all, it bothers me to do so, because running up to 5 times a week, and also have a certain pattern in my cycling activities (riding to work etc.) makes it for some clever guys not so hard to see when I'm not at home. So, I change this settings manually for the activities of wich I think they consist a new record (i.c. a long distance like the first marathon I ran, or like today, defenately a new speed record - as strava and endomondo says).
Though, these activities doesn't automatically generate new records in my PR section on Garmin connect. In case of my speed record of today, the previous record on a 10 km run would be a run from a few weeks ago, but the PR section still displayed a record from last year. When I deleted this "previous record", I hoped the connect platform would automatically take the best other record, but the line next to PR on 10 km stays blank. When I try to manually import today's activity as the new 10 km record, it repetely says "an error occured..." and I'm not able to run trough the activities in search of the best record.
I'm on the day before deciding to buy a new goodie to keep me motivated on sports terms, but this really bothers me. I'm wondering why free apps like strava or Endomono (wich I already used long before Garmin) are able to keep this info up to date automatically, and a hardware based platform (with quite expensive hardware - I was thinking about buying myself the Edge1000 or a forerunner920XT) like Garmin isn't able to do the trick.
What am I doin wrong and does anybody have the same issues with this platform? 2 months ago, I already sent an email to Garmin trying to explain this problem, but except the simply reply that they would send my questions to the Connect developpers, I didn't receive any answer that would satisfy me.
This would be a breaking item on deciding to chose between Garmin or other products like Polar or Suunto.
Regards,
Bart
