altering 1 step of a route while on the route

I do not know if this is where I post my question. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I just switched to the Nuvi 65LM after at least 8 years with Tomtoms. I do not want to set a permanent Avoid on the gps but I want to alter a route as follows.

Suppose the route says to take the Parkway to exit xxx to take the Outerbridge Crossing. I don't want that bridge, but want the Goethals Bridge instead. In the tomtom I would click alternative route, avoid, and click on the Outerbridge. It would offer me a different route, hopefully the other bridge. Or I could choose to travel by something and then give that info's location.

Without permanently avoiding the bridge, is there a way to do this on the Nuvi while on the route and looking ahead at the turns?
