Pedometer off in settings?

There was a thread in here where someone said you can go on Garmin Connect and de-select VS as your activity tracker. Can anyone walk me through the steps on how to do that please? I just don't want my steps to count towards my calorie burn for the day:)

Also my steps are really inaccurate all the time? I know some people have said they don't have much of a issue with that and others say have a lot of problems just wonder if there is any tricks that may help me? I walked .20 and took 200 steps and I ran .20 and took 180 steps but when I started my activity tracker my watch was saying I had hit .1 way before my gps tracker? for my run it was at .5 for gps. Yesterday I ran 7 miles and my VS said 8.9 miles? is that normal? I love the notifications when I am out running so I don't' have to stop all the time and look at my phone and I don't mind a lil inaccuracy but I feel like almost 2 miles is a lot?

Thanks in advance for any help! I am new to Garmin Connect and the VS so its a lil confusing for me! I have 3 weeks left before I can return it so I am really hoping I can figure it out before then. There is a lot I like about this watch! Just being a runner I am hoping to get a little closer to a accuracy on steps!!
