Garmin Express not syncing to Tanita Healthy Edge

Not sure if this is a Garmin issue or a Tanita issue, but I have a Tanita BC1000 scale and a Garmin Forerunner 210.

I use the 210 to take measurements from the scale and then use Garmin Express to sync the data to Garmin Connect site. This all works fine. I can see the weight measurements in Connect.

When I run the Tanita Healthy Edge Lite its supposed to grab to scale measurements from Garmin Express (I think) and update its database. This is not happening.

Under my profile in the Tanita software its not detecting the watch - "Status: No Garmin Watch Selected"

My wife has the same watch and on her PC (With a older version of Garmin Express - 3.something) its working fine.

I have just installed Garmin Express and its 4.0.15.0 - could this be an issue?

Anyone have any ideas of what else I can try?

Update: I've installed Express 3.2.29 and its working again.

Looks like Express 4.x breaks the syncing to Tanita :(

Can a mod please move this to the Garmin Express thread.

Update2: Logged a call with Garmin support. Lets see how many months it take them to fix this.

    I have exactly the same issue with a Tanita and a FR60 since the last update of Garmin Express...
  • Logged a call with Garmin and they come back with do a master reset on your device.

    Aggh - its clearly a bug in GE!
  • Updated to GE 4.0.17 and still not working.

    Back to 3.x I guess.
  • Logged a call with Garmin - after a few days I get a reply that they do not support 3rd party devices.

    Great help there - your update broke the syncing.

    Logging a call with Tanita now to see if they offer any more support. Otherwise I'll just stay on v3.x


    Really hopeless support and not much help at all. And then they send me a survey link! :mad: Really?!

    Healthy Edge+Garmin Express

    When Garmin switched to Garmin Express away from ANT+ I told them and Tanita about this problem, both have choose not to take an interest in this matter. The only thing you can do is use two computers one for ANT+ (that's if you can download it from Garmin) and one for Express as I do. I'm hoping that one day Tanita Scales will fix this problem or Garmin so that it can be used with Garmin Express. But I don't think so because Garmin 920XT does not have capability now to measure weight or transfer from a Tanita Scale. Garmin told me to put in a request for that and maybe they may one day update the 920XT.

  • I've logged a call with Tanita and its been escalated to their engineering department. Lets hope there is a fix coming out soon from someone. The lack of ownership of the issue is the problem.

    If I didnt have so many Garmin products I threw throw them all out in a heartbeat and go back to Polar.

  • Still no luck from with Garmin on Tanita. No one wants to take ownership of the issue.
  • I found a company with almost worse support than Garmin...Tanita!

    Logged a call with Tanita on Healthy Edge software, they say this software is for America only and Europe do not support this software. Since I am in the UK I cannot use this software.

    They have said I can use the web version(Which I cannot get working and looks buggy) or use Tanita Gmon - which you need to purchase.

    Talk about a stuff up between Tanita BC1000 and Garmin. I'm sorry I ever bought either of these products!

    Things were working just fine pre GE 4.x :mad:
