I second this. I don't understand why, after all of my research and such a high demand; this request has been left unfulfilled time and time again. I scheduled to return my Vivoactive because I couldn't easily update it. However I received the Fitbit Surge after growing accustomed to the text/calendar notifications on this; so I kept it. If a change isn't made; I'm still looking elsewhere for future products.
With a Chromebook I can mount my FR15 and see all of the files and files systems. I can manually upload and download .fit files or anything I want.
Garmin does not make clear where I get the latest upgraded firmware file, where I would place in my FR15 file system, and basic steps to have to upgrade upon unmounting it and restarting. Thus I cannot get firmware upgrades.
I have to mount and manually import all my workouts into Garmin Connect.
I have an Edge and VivoFit which I can sync via Garmin Express to Garmin Connect. This all works well. I can also sync my Edge 800 either automatically on my windows laptop or manually via my chromebook.
But I cant use Garmin Express on the chromebook automatically or by using bluetooth for my vivofit!!!
The nature of Chrome OS & Chromebooks etc means that its relatively easy for app developers to create software for these OS as is seen with the android mobile app.
The glaringly obvious and infuriating question is this:- WHY HAVEN'T GARMIN CREATED A CHROME EXTENSION OR APP SO THAT GARMIN PRODUCTS WILL WORK BETTER???
