I am renewing my laptop .

Do I connect sat nav and reinstall garmin express, or can I save the old download files to a hard drive and copy them to my new laptop?

Garmin Express needs to be installed on your new laptop from a fresh download.

What "old download files" are you referring to? Waypoints? Tracks?
