Uploading activity from file to Garmin Connect

https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activities <--

From the list of activities, the Upload button leads to a shell where neither my gpx nor my tcx files work. I have a "undefined" error with a red "X" and no further information.
Is it me or is this a temporary failure? I need to upload files exported from TacX Software (TTS4 latest build). I'm wondering if the file exported will recognize the grade/altitude coming from the slope of the brake as if it was a real ride. In other words, will Garmin Connect visualize the grade/gradient exported from TTS4 or will the ride appear as a flat 0%? Has anyone tried?

This is something else... if the Fenix3+GSC10 pod have their own data (specifically the HR/CAD/DST) but the gps map and gradient come from the TTS4 exported file, I'm gonna have 2 activities on the same session: Is there a way to import into an existing activity on GC the individual data from another activity of GC, thus merging these 2 sessions (each of which is missing something) into 1 session with full data?

I suppose it takes an instrument wizard to answer to these 2 questions... I suppose someone already tried that? :D

I've got third party software where I can do these things offline... but is it possible to do things like these on Garmin Connect?
• Same problem w my activities from powertap. I export activities in gpx or tcx files and get "udefined" message :mad:

It used to work just fine for me. GPS rides were the best as they contains gps-data so you will get slope and everything (Just calories and start date tended to mess up when importing). Catalyst rides or VR rides never contained slope data. But today when I tried to upload my scores from tacx I got the same error as you described.

I exported an outdoor ride I've done with my garmin Forerunner 310XT and compared the content with the one exported from tacx. They do differ in many ways when it comes to Trackpoints but it could have been like this all the time.
Has Garmin made any changes in their api/data format that Tacx is not familiar with?

Annoying...

edit:
Here is a GPS ride example:

And here is a catalyst example:

• Same problem here, I export activities from gpsies.com in gpx or tcx format, when I try to upload them to garmin connect (so that I can send them to the edge 1000 via bluetooth) I always get the "udefined" error-message.

Any suggestion?

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the actual exception message from the server?
In that case one can transform the format of the file to something garmin will except.
• Did you folks try it in Classic? I've never gotten modern to work for me but classic does.
• My new 310XT is giving me different Tanita Scale Measurements!

I replaced my old 310xt with a brand new one and my Tanita measurements seem to be way off...with is right but visceral and % body fat are lower than the old watch and Tanita direct measurements!

Worth a try but how do you upload manually in the classic?
I tried the upload/transfer (don't know the exact name in english since I have swedish translation) button but it says my browser is not compatible with the old communicator plugin and takes me to the modern version.

Modern and classic both should work.
One thing is if the features are not working, in that case you should check if the browser is up to date, if java and everything else is up to date AND if the browser security settings allow some particular features that the browser can use.
If I may, I suggest you use a browser for normal navigation with very high security (I use IE for that) and that with an AV-FWall and a custom hosts file will keep you totally safe... then you use another browser with normal security for the websites you well know (i.e. garmin connect). In this case you CAN use cookies and all features (I am not sure but maybe GC uses active-x).

ANOTHER thing is if you go and try to download the files and fail... when you read the error# and see you don't have authorization (and yet you are logged and the owner of that file) you know GC is experiencing issues and there's not much you can do. Well... there technically is... you can still grab the fit file from the F3 and import it into your 3rd party software for analysis. Bye Bye Garmin Connect. :)

You choose the upload button and when you see the message about communicator, click on "Continue to improved uploads. Then you will see a page with the Express and Mobile icons. Above the icons are 3 tbs. The last one is manual upload. That is what you can use.

pshare -> I tried that with the same result.

What I did instead was to export an old working file from garmin connect and compare it with the generated one from tacx training software. Noticed some extra elements in the file:

In the .tcx file (from tts) i removed the <Creator>...</Creator> as seen below:
</Lap>
<Notes/>
<Training VirtualPartner="false">
<Plan Type="Workout" IntervalWorkout="false">
<Name>TacxTours Las Vegas</Name>
</Plan>
</Training>
<Creator>...</Creator> <------- This part was removed
</Activity>
</Activities>
<Courses>
<Course>
etc...
After that, the import worked in garmin connect, but the speed in the diagram was messed up. So I had to remove all <Speed> elements in the <Extensions> element in the tcx-file to make that better.
Now it's only calories and the date/time of the training that is completely wrong...

Not a simple solution, but finally the activities can be imported.

So since it used to work, but not anymore, I guess the problem is with the Tacx Training Software (and their new version 4.16.4 which I'm currently using)
