Trouble importing Strava Routes into Garmin Connect

A friend of mine completed a trail run using Strava today. I created a Route of his run on Strava and exported GPX and TCX variants of the file. Unfortunately, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get that translated into a Course on GC so I can send it to my Fenix 3. I've tried unsuccessfully many times to import the Strava Route as an Activity. Each time GC complains "undefined." Any suggestions appreciated. Trying to manually create that route in GC or BaseCamp would be a tedious nightmare.
  • Sometimes I'll run a gpx or tcx route through gpsies.com's convertor and then Garmin will accept it. If that hint doesn't help, share the original file with us using something like dropbox and maybe one of us can help.
  • Hi Reza,

I have the same problem. Even tried converting the Strava exported GPX and TCX files via gpsies.com as suggested by Don, but GC fails the import any of the files.
Have you managed to make it work for you yet?
  • New issue after lots of successful upload

    Hi,

I used to be able to export a strava route as gpx, convert it with gpsies (from gpx to gpx) and then upload it as a manual activity to garmin connect, save it as a route and then send the route to my Fenix 3.

Since yesterday the last step (sync the route to Fenix 3) does not work anymore in that use case.
Everythingelse does, i.e. I am able to end up with the route I created in Strava showing as a course in garmin connect. When I then click on send to Device and choose my Fenix 3 the transfert fails. ( I have tried Bluetooth, Cable and WiFi all 3 with the same result).

When I create the route with Garmin Connect the transfert works. Unfortunately garmin connect is not able to consistently select only real roads like strava does. (My TT Bike does not like gravel ;-) )

Does anybody have a solution for this ?
