How to get a Foretrex 401 "on" Connect as a device?

New to this forum, Garmin Connect, Garmin Express and the Garmin Foretrex 401.

Successfully downloaded/updated Garmin Express, and got Express talking to the 401. The 401 also has been successfully updated.

Created account to use Garmin Connect. Logged into Connect, Express is running, 401 is connected and Express sees it.

ISSUE: Connect says I have no device on Garmin Connect. Its solution is to direct me to a Garmin Express download link. But I've already downloaded, installed and updated Express. I can't find any function in either Express or Connect to get Connect to recognize my 401.

Why do I want to do this? I thought I could upload tracks from the 401 to Connect via Express, and download info to the 401 as well re: seeing my track mapped to Google Earth, etc. I expected I would find other features of use on/through the use of Connect and Express for a 401 user.

Does Connect offer any features a 401 user can engage? If so, how do I get the 401 to be recognized by Connect?
