Garmin 405CX Sync error with Garmin Connect

I haven't uploaded the data from my Garmin 405CX since mid-January and today I cannot get my watch to sync at all.
I updated the software to version 2.40 and I am told that now the software is up to date.

Now when I try to sync I get the error message "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect" and I am asked to pair my device again. Pairing is set to Yes, however when I am asked to accept the pairing, it seems to switch off pairing and nothing happens. This has now happened on several occasions and I cannot force send the data either.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue? I have followed the steps for the online help but it is not solving the issue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Having a similar issue with a 405 which has synched approximately once a week without much issue since October 2010. The last 2 weeks, it just won't. The pairing seems fine - the ANT is picking up the device and it runs through the typical routine until the end when I get the same message. This repeats again and again and force send also did not work. I also updated Garmin Express today but that did not work either. Interested to hear if this is a system issue on the Garmin side and if there is a plan to fix it.

I am hoping someone will pick this up and help us soon. I don't want to get to a point where my old runs are deleted to save the new ones.
  • If your issues are linked to Express I suggest you post in the Express forum, there are Garmin staff there who are willing to help, here I think it's just users like yourself.
