Creating Workouts in Garmin Connect compared to Training Center

Training Center allows the user to create repeat workout steps with rest steps whereas Garmin Connect does not.
Also Training Center allows the user to include a short description of the workout step whereas Garmin Connect does not.

For example, my indoor cycling warm-up includes 30s standing and 30s seated x 5. This was easy to create in TC but it is impossible to create in Garmin Connect.

I've attached the workout for your reference. It would be great if Garmin could change the Garmin Connect workout utility to allow for this complexity which is not unusual for workouts. It would make it a lot more useful. In the mean time, I can import the workouts from TC into my Edge 810.

Kind regards,

  • The work out you describe is super easy to create in garmin connect. You just add a 30 sec interval, followed by another 30 sec interval and then put that in a repeat box.

As far as the description, you are right there.
  • I also believe that the training feature in Garmin Connect could be better.
For example, for the indoor roller trainers, it should have an option for the strenght lever of the roller trainer, so I can include it in an interval.
  • @SFAINBRAUN the main point is the fact that you can't set the description

@STOCKELL you can create repeat with rest steps in connect - what exactly are you trying to do apart from have the custom named steps that you cannot do in connect?
