Map view - Full screen

Not sure if this is a bug or just not possible.

I find the map view in Garmin connect restrictive when viewing and planing routes (via Courses).
Is there a way to view this in full screen? not just a letterbox type of layout?

Cheers

The developer from Ride With GPS contacted me and is working on being able to upload a route / track. Finger crossed..

I'm confused - I've *always* been able to import courses into RWGPS......? It's the Garmin site which doesn't support this.

@Bannor - I import gpx/tcx files into RwGPS to create courses (RwGPS calls them "routes") as well, but it's not direct. To double-check this, I just exported a course from Garmin, first as tcx, next as gpx, and in each case RwGPS first created a Ride (same as what Garmin calls an "activity"). I then have to click on "Copy to My Routes" before it's a route which I can edit to adjust/create cues for each turn and later upload to my Edge 800. In order to have turn-by-turn navigation working, you also have to add a number of control points in the route editor and "wiggle" each point to generate the cues.

I'm not saying it's difficult, but it's not a one-step upload to import course/route into RwGPS. It's absolutely worthwhile to maintain your course/routes in RwGPS however, since Garmin actively works to sabotage their own products by hiding the ability to download a tcx/gpx file from a course. On RwGPS, of course, it's easy to share your course/route with other users and easy to export tcx/gpx files. With Garmin Connect, it's true that it's easy to export an activity, but you have to know the hidden trick to export your own (or other's) courses!
  • I'm not trying to import into RWGPS.

I'm trying to export from RWGPS and then place into the Fenix 3, which is not possible.

If it was it looks to be a lost cause as the Fenix watches (so I'm told) do not do way-point navigation, navigate to each way-point along a route, skip a way point etc.
