Forerunner 410 and Footpad on the Treadmill

I've just bought a footpod and tried it on my run/commute this evening. It kept note of my running cadence just fine, but whilst that's interesting, I actually bought it for when I go on holiday at the end of this month to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Koh Samui: it'll be waaaaay to hot for me to run outside, but I still want to do some distance work which I can do on the treadmill at the hotels we'll be staying in.

So I bought the footpod in the hope that it'll measure the distance we run which will then get logged on the Forerunner 410 and will be uploaded to Garmin Connect later each day ... or have I got all that completely wrong?
