It seems every time you go to this forum there is all this spam.

Is there no way to stop it?

I'm sure the staff here are doing their best to combat spam - it's probably impossible to eliminate it completely.

What I don't understand is the 'logic' of going to all the trouble of developing spamming software sophisticated enough to get through all the measures usually implemented against it *just* to deliver a message in bad English and poor spelling which merely tells you to 'buy xxxx'. And dropping 100 of these messages at a time - as if the spammers think that seeing it for the 100th time will motivate us to buy the product / service offered.....

It's not like they even bother to describe or *advertise* what they offer; do they *TRULY* think such tactics are effective? Or are there *really* people out there stupid enough to be impressed by this method?

    I just don't get it.... :)
  • I agree. It is hard to imagine anyone who comes here to be remotely interested in what they are peddling.
  • Fully agree. It is quite disturbing to find such an amount of spam every day in this forum.
  • I've never seen so much spam on a forum. I"m a member of quite a few other forums and there are only a handful on spam threads. Here its uncontrollable. Has a antispam module for vbullentin been investigated?
  • In my opinion it's increasing again. We had a quite good solution by blocking spammers by IP, but now we are deleting spam by 150 messages at once, and they come from one user using about 20 different IP's.
    we keep working on it....
  • I hear good things about captcha :)
  • We tried that, doesn't really work...a good spam filter on the vBulletin side maybe....
  • ditto what MARIOMOBIEL said. It's been tried here and at other forums that are heavily spammed and they are of little help from what I've seen as a forum user. Possibly it made the effort of policing it easier for the mods, but that's for them to decide.
