Changing which gear is displayed on the dashboard?

I retired my first pair of shoes on Garmin Connect on January 18 with 911.8 of a maximum 1000 KM. On the same day, I created a new pair of shoes, and set them as the default for running activities. This is working fine: the new pair is assigned to new activities, and I can see the shoes and their mileage on the full Gear page (/modern/gear).

However, on the dashboard (/modern/dashboard/#######) in the Gear widget, I still see the old, retired shoes - beneath the name it says "Retired on 2015 Jan 18", the mileage gauge is grey (at 911.8 / 1000 KM), and, as far as I can tell, there is no way to change this to display the new shoes instead.

Am I missing something? Or is there really no way to change which gear is displayed in the widget on the dashboard?
  • Click on the "gear" in the upper right corner of the widget (next to the "+" sign), and in the menu, select "switch gear"

    Thank you for your reply.

I assumed there would be an option like "Switch Gear", but I do not see it. I am only guessing, but I assume it is related to the fact that I have only one "active" (non-retired) gear, so it decides not to give me the option to switch it.

I notice that the Goals widget is the same in that it only gives me the option to switch the goal that is displayed when there is more than one active goal.
  • In that case, you can just remove the gear widget and add another back in with your current shoes.
  • Also handy to note that you can have multiple gear widgets on your dashboard too when you have more than once active pair of shoes.

i un-retired my first pair of shoes which allowed me to switch gear. I then retired the old pair of shoes. guess you should add your new shoes first, switch, then retire the old shoes.....
