Heart rate data not syncing from Garmin Connect to Strava on indoor cycling

Hi

I am using a Fenix 2 and have my Garmin Connect linked to my Strava account so that it automatically updates Strava after sucking the device with Garmin connect.

This work perfectly and I've had no problems with it at all.

I've noticed though that my heart rate data from indoor cycling activities is not going from connect to Strava. Has anyone else noticed this?

The heart rate data is transferred from indoor running activies though.

Is this a bug with connect or with Strava? I'm not sure.

Please can someone let me know if they are experiencing the same issues?

Thanks guys.

I also use an indoor trainer (CycleOps PowerBeam Pro), with an Edge 810 with standard Garmin speed / cadence and HR sensors. I haven't noticed this issue (and I'm sure I would have). My data is set to automatically update a couple of sites.
  • i have seen this as well.... as soon as i added cadence or speed data (sensors), the activity including HR was sent to STRAVA correct... if you have HR only... (no speed, distance or whatever) it does not show up in STRAVA.

    Thanks guys,

Yeah that is what I'm experiencing THBROD, when I do indoor running it has speed & cadence data & all the data including HR is pulled through to STRAVA. Indoor cycling at the moment, only has time & HR data as I'm not using a cadence sensor, I do plan to use one going forward so hopefully that will resolve the issue.

Did you try manually uploading the file to strava at all? I'm gonna give it a go just to see if it works.

    Thanks for the replies guys
  • Sorry... did not try to manually upload... but i think i noticed the same behaviour at the time i was still syncing via TAPIRIIK (autosend from garmin to strava was not in place at that time). But i can not guarantie.... i was also syncing to runkeeper and there i was able to see HR only data (without speed or cadence).... i think the problem is within STRAVA... the do not accept this as a valid activity.... but this is only my guess

I've found the below thread on Strava forums

    https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/61146944-Indoor-Activity-does-not-show-Heart-Rate-graph-on-Mobile

Basically it's a limitation with the Strava mobile app. It cannot display the HR graph alone, it appears, without other data such as speed/distance.

I have checked strava web & I can see the HR details as expected so this does appear to be correct!

Hope this helps anyone with the issue
