Forerunner 610 names EVERY activity as "Saints Ward Running"

Hi

I've been using my 610 for almost 9 months, I've never had an issue. Then all of a sudden, approx the last three months once an activity has been recorded it shows on the connect.garmin.com site as instead of an untitled activity, it has been named as Saints Ward Running.

I've reset the device but it continues to do this. I can't find any options on the device or within the Garmin connect site that would allow me to set this.

Does anyone know why this would do this???
  • Garmin started adding names a few months back. The "running" part is because you were running, and the "Saints Ward" is what Garmin thinks your location is. For me, the location has always been correct. I'm in the US, and people in other counties have reported incorrect names.

Could it be that "Saints Ward" is one of the names for the area you started in?

Worst case is that you can edit the name and correct it. There is no way to disable this as of today.
  • Are you in Luton? Saints Ward is one of the electoral wards for Luton. If not I guess you're somewhere else that has a Saints Ward.

Garmin now shows activities in the UK against the electoral ward in which it started.
  • Apparently it is. This is news to me, thanks for reply :)
  • Yes - certainly in the UK the ward name is not particularly useful as many of the wards bear no relation to usual area names don't know whether this feature works better for people in other countries
