Activites uploading with wrong time.

I have my upload settings on my account set to Mountain time (GMT -7hrs) Everything syncs fine with that except for when I do an activity with the heart rate monitor.

Those upload and save at GMT every time.

My device is a vivofit.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeff
  • The HR monitor is paired with the vivofit? I've always suspected there may be a bug in the way the Timezone field works on Garmin Connect. Supposedly it's only needed for uploads from devices that don't have a GPS. Which I guess the vivofit is one of those, but I'm not sure why the HR monitor paired to it would make a difference.

I always leave my timezone setting in Garmin Connect set to "GMT" as all my uploads come from gps devices and they show the correct local time. Maybe for the short term, you can just change the timezone in Garmin Connect when you upload activities when using the HR strap.

Don't rely on this forum to notify Garmin of the issue though. If you don't find out there is some setting you have wrong, then let Garmin Support know of the issue.

I am seeing the same with activities coming from my Forerunner 220. They were correct at first, but then I set my timezone to US Eastern, and were then always -5 hours. The timezone setting says it only applies to “non-GPS” uploads, which would make sense as those should have very precise time information, but it must be getting applied to those anyway. Or possibly the glitch is in the iOS app, which is what’s actually doing the uploads for me. I’ll first try an activity uploading directly to the site (bypassing the iOS app), and then try setting my timezone back to GMT and seeing what happens.

I've seen others post similar complaints over the last six or more months, but if no one tells Garmin Support then it won't ever get fixed.

I myself don't have an issue, someone that does needs to tell them. The more that file a support issue with them, the more higher priority it will have to get worked on.

i have the exact same issue. for both my edge 510 and forerunner 220.
i would not count on a timely reply from customer service email. we will have to call.

Both those devices have a GPS. If you don't use any non-gps devices that you upload data from to GC, then just change the setting in GC back to "GMT". That is how mine is and I have no issues.

However I agree that calling is better than opening an issue through email. To often with email you get caught up in a receive/reply chain of emails that you never finish because of the sometimes menial things they have you try first.

Calling is definitely worth the wait as they can't hangup on you till you say you are finished.

so changing back to GMT time zone should fix?
  • might fix. Just try and see. The world won't blow up if it doesn't.
