Incorrect speeds registering at very beginning of 'run'

I use the FR15 for tracking HR/speed/location during soccer (football) matches. I have arrived @ a reasonable method for me to logically break things out: Lap 1 is warmup; Lap 2 is first half; Lap 3 is halftime; Lap 4 is second half; Lap 5 is cooldown (or overtime period, if necessary); with additional Laps as necessary, however the last one is always a cooldown.

This results in an immediate depression of the lap button when the run is started. On all 'runs' there is an excessive speed registered @ the very beginning of the run (> 10 mph), but the rest of the recorded speeds are rational.

Still nothing from Garmin support other than "Is the firmware up to date?" This is easily replicable, I'm not sure why it's so hard to diagnose... Start a run, immediately hit the lap button, do a run (or whatever). When the device [FR15] is synced, there is a false speed record at the very beginning of the activity. It can be anywhere from 11+mph, to > 100mph (yes, that showed up once as well!).

    Am I the only one uses/using laps?
  • I've only used the 405 and 410. Does the FR15 give you the chance to sync to the satellites before you start and to see how many satellites you have clear and agreeing signals from first? When I'm concerned about getting a correct reading I look at the satellite sync before I start to make sure all the connected satellites agree and the accuracy is below 20 feet. I only get absurd readings when I don't bother to let the satellites fully sync before I start. The Fr15 may be different, however.
