hi,
new to this,
every activity i do gets named with the same thing and its a place I've never been to.how do i stop my EDGE510 from doing this
thanks
  • You can't. It is coming from code on the GC web site. However, you can edit your activities on the site after you've uploaded them.
  • I have the same problem of a default activity name that is not the usual Untitled.
The problem only appears for cycling and running activities, not for swimming.
This is a recent issue, which might have been triggered by the fact that I did a reset to factory level my 910XT to check if that resolved a charging issue.
This is a real bug and not acceptable to have to rename every activity versus having Untitled.
  • All activities with GPS data are automatically given a name that is <Location> <ActivityType>. This was a change that was made to Garmin Connect late last year. It has nothing to do with resetting your device, and it is not a bug.

The only reason you'd have to rename your activities to Untitled would be if you insist that all of your activity titles provide no useful information at all.

If you think that the generated name for the activity is wrong for the location you were in, I'd like to take a look. I've seen several people say that the location information was inaccurate, and several times I've been able to find resources that indicate they don't know enough about the area in which they live or train.
  • Hi Travis - I think the issue certainly in the UK is that the info provided whilst it may be accurate is not relevant to everyday life. A lot of my training take place in an area called Aldershot camp/Aldershot stadium - the description I get is something like St Marks Ward. St Marks ward is an electoral administrative area that is correct - just not something that is relevant geographically - if you asked most long term residents of the area how to get to St Marks ward you would be met with a blank stare. In the UK probably postcode would be most useful although for me the automatic naming is just an irritation rather than a benefit as my run description is normally a mix of location and session type
