Wrong region shown in activiy name

Recent i realised that my activities in Gramin Connect are auto insert with name but with all wrong description.
It used to be named "Untitle" for activity after I sync my device with Connect, but now it just name all my run as "Johur Bahru Running" or "Pengerang Cycling".
I was running or cycling in Singapore, so why did Gramin auto name my activities with Malaysia area?
  • There are a few threads about this. Mostly folks find that the naming is correct, and it was introduced in response to user demand. Why yours are wrong I don't know, mine have always been correct.

    Hi!

There is problem with Latvia and Lithuania. Some time ago new workout appeared as untitled, then was upgrade, and I assume idea was to show city or somewhere where activity was. I run in Riga, but get Sklėriškių k. Running. I think this is somewhere in Lithuania. These are two different countries, please fix it.

    Activities Name

My Activities have recently appeared with a description I have not entered e.g. Crossmaglen Cycling or Crosssmaglen Running , I live nowwhere near this place
  • See my comment at post #2 above.
  • Haha, here in Moscow we get lots of funny names, but never actually "Moscow". It's obvious that AI that chooses names is sick.
  • Not necessarily. Someone on here reported Connect had his location wrong until it was pointed out to him that it was correct, he just didn't know the correct name for the area he was in. I doubt in your case if everywhere in 'Moscow' would be annotated 'Moscow'.
  • I don't know, but somehow strava figures out names correctly. In my case, the name definitely not right and I'm absolutely aware where am I =)
There is an error, no reason to deny it. Knowing Garmin I'm not expecting it be fixed. Just stopped editing names in GC as strava renames it anyway. Synchronization of names in GC and Strava is not implemented, so my list of activities in GC looks like garbage now.
  • It is certainly strange, as all my activities are named correctly. I have no idea how Connect works, but it may depend on the map (or not) being used on the device
  • It would be interesting if someone that has problems with the location name to switch to a different map provider and see what happens. In the US we have Google, Bing and OpenSteetMap to pick from. I use Google, and my locations are correct, and change correctly if I go to a suburb just a few miles away.

If you mean changing map provider in the web-interface, no, it didn't help. I doubt that UI is in any way connected to the function, that assigning names to activities.
