Step Goal of 0 in Report

For the most part, reports are working fine for me. I do have this niggling issue that comes up from time to time but has now happened for the last 2 days in a row. Although my daily step widget shows my steps and goals properly, my steps report shows a goal of 0 for both yesterday and today.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Yes, I am having the same problem.
  • Today is the third day in a row.
  • Today was the 3rd day out of the last four.
  • Did you set a step goal or are you using auto step goal? If you're using auto, try manual for a couple days and see if the display is correct or vice versa.

The Step goal is actually stored in the tracker (that's why an auto step goal can change without syncing), so there maybe some mismatch going on here. It could be that changing it from auto to manual and back(syncing each time), the problem could be fixed.

update: I just switched my FR15 to auto goal. And guess what! My goal in the daily step bar for today is now 0! It seems to be a problem with the step goal if auto step goal is used!

I'm using auto. The issue however isn't that the goal is 0. It's that it shows up in reports as 0. In the widget it's fine day by day. In the vivosmart it is also fine.

My theory is that I tend to sync often during the day - maybe up to 10 times as I hit milestones. I am thinking that during one of those syncs the goal data looks for the next day in the report which, at that point, must be 0. Perhaps there's a SQL query gone wrong within the report. Another thought is that I often put my phone in airplane mode and when the vivosmart reconnects something goes wrong during the next sync. Back in 2.70 days, the goal would go to 0 whenever I had to re-pair as if it were a new device.

I thought about switching to manual but I am not sure what would happen if I switched back to auto. Would it calculate based on previous results or would it start over at 7,500 steps?
  • See my update above. I just tested it and it seems to be specific to using "auto step goal".

If you switch you manual, you can set it to whatever you want. When you switch back to Auto, you'll be back in the range you should be. It only goes back to 7500 on a hard reset, even if you switch it to a new account. (tried that too in the past!)

I'll stay on auto step for a few days and see if it's consistent on the "0 goal" thing.

I'm confused. In post #7 above you say you should be back in the range. However,in post #5, when you switched to auto it went to 0. We are talking about the report - not the widget - right?

The more I think about it, the more I believe that when I disconnect and then reconnect to my phone, at some point, Connect believes it's a new device and then starts over at 0. The fact that the widget is always correct tells me that the report has a simple bug that could easily be addressed.
  • It went to 0 only in the display in the report. For the step widget and on the device itself, the goal is what it should be, over 10,000.
  • So to summarize, if I am in auto and the goal for the day changes to 0, I can flip it to manual, set the goal to the goal in the widget and it will appear in the report. If I then switch back to auto, the report will revert to 0?

    So

    Day 1:
    The report goes to 0.
    Switch to manual.
    Report fixes itself.

    Day 2:
Switch from Manual to auto to generate a goal for the day
When/if it switches to 0, switch to manual.

    Rinse and repeat as needed?
  • So, I just synced for the first time today, with auto step goal still on, and in the steps report, it's showing the proper goal (but still 0 for yesterday)
