Setting HR Zones in Garmin Connect

Could anyone advise how I can I change these to my actual hr zones in connect please, I have read all the help I can find and appear to be doing this correctly- entering my resting HR of 64, then putting in my max hr of 160 but when I click save I get the error message 'The heart rate for this zone cannot be less than the heart rate of a lower zone'. I understood that when I click save after putting in my resting and max HR it should then calculate all my other HR zones.

Could you please let me know where I am going wrong!
  • Change it in steps. Start by setting maxHR to a number just higher than the zone 4 / 5 boundary number and click save. The numbers will recalculate. Repeat until the zone 4/5 boundary number is below your maxHR, then enter your maxHR and click save.

BTW, just curious - how did you arrive at 160 as your maxHR?

    Thank you!

I have the Heart Monitor training for the Compleat Idiot book and did the test to obtain maximum HR from that.

Not familiar with the book. If the test involved sweat & hard effort instead of a calculator then it's likely enough a good enough place to start. :D

See http://www.howtobefit.com/determine-maximum-heart-rate.htm for some other ideas to compare against.

Glad it worked to get you set up. Best wishes.
