Can we add functionality to track or report on Gear usade, eg KM's or miles, no of uses.
Trying to track trainer life using gear is hard. Being able to report on current gear usage and show summary of k's in one place/report would be useful
Thanks

Garmin Connect already does this, at least for shoes.

You can track gear for Shoes, Bikes and Other activities.

It also appears you can add multiple pieces of gear to each activity. I guess you could add things like Bike shoes, HR straps, Socks & Jocks :), etc. Then when you add gear to your activity, simply select all the gear used.

Personally, I'd like to see an enhancement, where gear can be associated with the profiles that can be created in the newer Garmin devices. That would make the gear tracking more automatic, assuming Garmin Connect can upload profile info.

    Matt.
  • You can say that gear (ie, a shoe) is automatically added to activities (like running or cycling). It's done within the GC website, when you edit or define gear.

I think the trouble is when you go to the gear page it shows the number of activities for that pair of shoes, but not the total mileage. About the only way to see how many miles are on a pair of shoes is by going to the connect page (with all the "tiles"), and switching the gear there to see the total miles for each. It would be cool if there were a report on the site that has a listing of the current mileage for each piece of gear you have entered (shoes, bikes, etc.)

I like the idea of the Gear feature alerting me to the end of bike chain life. The Garmin 800 allows you to record distance for up to 5 different bikes - but this information doesn't seem to find it's way into Garmin Connect, so rather pointless. It seems like I have to remember which bike I used for each trip, and then after my rides have been uploaded into Garmin Connect, manually enter which bike (gear) I have used for each trip. It must be possible for Garmin Connect to import my bike model data, and then for me to filter activities by bike model, showing me total distance / average speed / other stats for each bike?

I don't seem to be able to have multiple bikes in my connect. meaning I can only select one of my bike for cycling. Any one has the same issue?
