Censorship on Garmin Forums!

We had a long thread here about the annoying distance problem, eg. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?176681-GPX-Activities-uploaded-no-longer-have-length-distance&p=481909#post481909 but the moderators of this forum have deleted this thread completely!! And probably will do the same with this one.

Is this the way to cope with customer feedback? Of course there were a lot of frustrated user postings, but you cannot delete frustration by deleting threads!
  • I've replied to this where you raised it initially. As far as I know no mods have deleted this thread, I'll look into it. We rarely 'censor' threads, in fact Garmin's advice to us is that they don't mind criticism. Threads are generally only deleted if they are spam (I deleted about 500 spam threads today) or in very exceptional circumstances.

Thanks for your fast answering. I would be sad indeed if Garmin censors threads, but this one actually disappeared.

I own three garmin navis and a forerunner, but in the moment I am very frustrated with the sw quality of GC. A status page was introduced but it is telling that everything should be ok. But it isn't. Your users don't want to waste time on not-working-sw, we want to spend our time outside. And have a nice look a home afterwards on what we've done.
  • I agree with sussamb. I can't recall the last time a thread was deleted that wasn't blatant spam. As mentioned above, there are tons of it that the mods have to sift through every day. It's possible a thread gets deleted in error, as "collateral damage." I know, because I've done it before. :( Other than that, threads aren't deleted unless they have become an avenue for personal attacks on any user (volunteer moderators, forum members, or Garmin employees), or violate the standard rules of conduct for these forums (http://www.garmin.com/en-US/legal/terms-of-use). Voicing your dissatisfaction is welcome as long as we are civil and on topic.
  • Not 'my users', I don't work for Garmin.

Connect is working OK for me, if you have a problem please open a thread and describe it, someone may be able to help.

Returning to the OP ... I think I know what's happened and I've pm'd the site admin. I'll keep you posted.
  • Yes very odd, they close the thread and they don't fix the distance bug.

Hello, i confirm thread closed (was 12 pages at least) https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?176681-GPX-Activities-uploaded-no-longer-have-length-distance/page8 , i still upload GPX activities on GC with 0.02 km when my foretrex 301 and openrunner indicate 22km!!! that problem starts between the 11 december 2014 and the 14 december 2014, bug not fixed, no communication, no solution. I love my Garmin but Garmin connect....

No trying to thread hijack, but those dates fit with when the 20 minute average power went out the window. That one is now showing max power instead of average (rendering a very essential training statistic useless for planning workout and training plans).

There was definitely a (non-advertised?) release of GC around 15-20 Dec 2014 that messed up a whole lot of stuff. I can only assume a backout has been considered but they have decided to try and fix forward instead. However, judging by user feedback on here I think they should reconsider this, do a full or partial backout, and re-run their QA before attempting a re-release.

That thread has been restored, it was as I suspected deleted in error.
