i am not sure if i need to change any settings but there are several calories burned calculator online which are telling me that if i play competitive badminton for an hour then based on my BMI, i will burn 600 calories...yesterday when i had my fitness band on, garmin calculated that i only burned about 250 calories where i was playing badminton for 3 hours...what am i doing wrong???? do i have to input that number manually??? any guidance would help. thank you.
  • Did you wear a heart rate monitor? You'd not get it measured properly without one......

The problem is that steps are not going to be counted properly in a stop start game in a small area like Badminton. Its similar with table tennis where I've had epic games with loads of movement but hardly any steps get counted. Its because the trackers need to see ~20 steps before they register the current number. If you keep stopping every few steps it will miss most of them.

That's why you would need a HRM for this.

I have a polar heart rate monitor strap. Would this work with Garmin?

Garmin uses Ant+ to communicate, and Polar uses BlueTooth, so no....
