Heart Rate monitor dropping out, show estimated values

My heart rate monitor seems to cut out while I'm running, or at least that is what garmin connect shows in my activities. Obvious spaces where it drops to 0. It would be nice if you could turn on estimated values that were just a linear line between the two points, even if they were shown in a different color. I think it just looks really odd to have drop outs there.
  • Agreed - it would be a good idea to have the option and also to smooth out spikes which sometimes occur. Which HRM have you got - I had trouble with the original one that came with my FR 610 and it was dropping out, giving ridiculously high readings etc etc - that was after about a year of use. I now have the premium HR strap (with the grey fabric insert) this has proved very reliable for about 18 months. Which strap and watch have you got and do you wet the strap etc before running?

I have the same problem. I have contacted Garmin many times, and they even sent me a brand new soft strap monitor, but it does the same thing. I have the original vivofit, and I know other vivofit users have had the same problem. Maybe it's the watch and not the strap?
  • Sounds like it may be the Vivofit itself - I've been using the new soft strap (the one with the grey patch of fabric) for a couple of years now with my Forerunner 610 and very rarely have strange spikes or dropouts
