When looking at segments and trying to find where I am on the leader board I get an error saying I need to make my activities available to everyone. In my profile all my activities etc ARE available/set to EVERYONE.. what is up Garmin.. ??

Having a similar issue. I ran last week and it registered me on the leader board, but ran the same route last night and it said I didnt cross any segments. My profile also says that I am visible to everyone. I have read that other people have the same issue and sometimes takes days to register on the leaderboard.
  • Same here - I have run segments and been recognised and then running it at a later date - nothing For a couple I have recreated them ??

Hi guys. Wondering if you could help me, I can't seem to find where/how to create segments for my routes I've created on my profile.

I use the Forerunner 220 and the VivoSmart as my devices, but this baffles me
  • I've created segments, but only using an activity, and not a course. View the activity in full page, and near the bottom is "Stats" "Splits" and "Segments". Click on Segments, and at the bottom of that pane is "Create Segment"

Brilliant, that's what I've been looking for! Thank you :)

I wanted to know if I can easily compare my performance on a segment across the times I have done it. Not just look at my best performance. Is this possible?
  • Yes. I have a bunch of segments defined based on various routes I take. Each time I "cross" one of those segments, it's noted in the activity next time I do the same route. I can then see a list of each time I took that route and compare times. The key is when you view the segment, select "only me", or you'll see a leaderboard of everyone that crossed the same segment.

Does anyone know how Segments’ data are recorded? I created a Segment last week for a 0.36 mile sprint at the end of most of my rides. Shortly thereafter data from most of my rides last year started to populate the Segment. On Saturday’s ride I made sure to hammer this section as hard as I could. I didn’t see below 30mph on Garmin 800 for any part of it. After the ride my peak 30 sec was 32.1 and 1 min was 29.8 mph (all of which were over this Segment). When Garmin Connect populated Segment data for that day’s ride it showed me at 52 seconds and 25.27 mph. Just trying to figure out why since I was above that speed before and throughout the duration of the Segment in question.

Similarly, rode it today (not pushing it, but watching Garmin 800 closely) and today's Segment shows me at ~2.5 MPH slower than what I rode it in.
