How to sync calendar and workouts wirelessly 920XT

Hello,

I bought the 920XT recently for Xmas, and I love it.
The only little issue that I have is that I can't seem to be able to wirelessly sync my 920xt with garmin connect.
I update my workouts/calendar from garmin connect fine, and whether I sync via bluetooth or wifi, the watch tells me that the sync went fine, but the new workouts is not on the watch.
The even weirder thing about this, is that when I come back from a workout it syncs fine (watch -> garmin) I can see my "training results" on garmin.

so far I had to plug the watch via the USB adapter.

Can somebody shed some light on this?

thanks a lot in advance.

Mike
  • Are you sending the calendar & workouts and they're just disappearing or are you getting an error message when it brings up Express?
  • I'm sending them on garmin express, but they don't appear. no error message.
Can you confirm that you don't need to connect your 920xt via USB in order to download your calendar and/or workouts?

    thanks for your help.

Can you confirm that your 920xt is actually on your wireless network? I haven't been able to get mine to work since I purchased in November. There are security issues between my router settings and the watch settings.

I use the Bluetooth sync instead via cell phone. This wasn't working either for the last two weeks but did work today for the first time since the Connect issues everyone is having.
  • yes my watch is on my wireless network since I can upload my training results to garmin connect.
    thanks

Did a little bit of testing yesterday after Garmin Connect came back up, nothing exhaustive.

Training calendar workouts sync via wifi. Doesn't seem to sync via bluetooth. I *do* specifically have to do the send-to-device part from the web browser before it will work. Also seemed like there might be some sort of time delay involved but I didn't explore that much at all.

Workouts I didn't test over wifi as it's simple enough to bring them up on my phone and push them over via bluetooth.

I've not used Training Calendar in the past, so I was slightly surprised that after pushing a training calendar workout over to the watch it did not show in the Workouts list, just in the Training Calendar. Seems to be two different buckets in the watch.
  • Ok thanks a lot for your answer.
    I will try it tonight.
can you give me some of the names you used for your trainings? Garmin support seemed to think it might be linked to my training names being too long or contain special characters.

    Thanks again for your help
  • For training calendar I've tried "Lunch Run" and "LunchRun". Other workouts (non calendar) names are in the vein of "Interval 12x400m" or "HM Race Pace".

I have the same problem of not managing to sending workouts from Garmin Connect to the forerunner 920xt neither by bluetooth nor by wifi. It only works via usb.

    Anyone helping in this?

Second issue: dont manage to modify workouts designed in Garmin Connect from the watch, but only from Garmin Connect. Is it actually like this?

I have the same exact issue. I have even reset the watch back to factory defaults, redid the setup and tried to sync to garmin express- the two workouts I placed in the training calendar simply do not appear in the training calendar of my watch. I instead get the 'Download your training calendar from garmin connect' message.

The watch is on the WiFi network, because it is successfully able to upload my workouts.

I am trying to use the garmin connect app through Chrome for windows.

I was able to get individual workouts to successfully sync with my watch AFTER shutting down Garmin Express, and restarting it with 'Run as Administrator'. Right click the express app -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Check the 'Run as Administrator' Checkbox.

Still not sure how to get the training calendar to update.
