Still can't use my Heart Rate Monitor because I can't get into Device Settings

Bought a new Vivofit and HR Monitor, but haven't been able to use the HRM because the website won't let me into Device Settings. Just a forever blue swirling ball. Great. I paid $40 more to get to see a blue swirling ball. Beginning to wonder if I made the right purchase with Garmin.

I think that you can do it from your phone also. I have a Vivosmart, so I can't test these instructions, but they are from the vivovit support site

How do I pair a Heart Rate Monitor with my vivofit in order to record an activity such as a run or walk?

    Instructions for smartphone:

Pair and sync vivofit with Connect Mobile on your phone
View device settings for vivofit in Connect Mobile
Move slider for "Heart Rate" under "Device Display" so it is dark blue
Sync vivofit with Connect Mobile (Press and hold button on vivofit until “SyNC” appears)
Once synced, press button on your vivofit band repeatedly to switch to HEART screen
Wear HRM and wet electrodes to activate it
Wait for vivofit band to display a heart rate and heart rate zone

A recorded activity starts when the vivofit begins displaying your heart rate and heart rate zone. When the vivofit stops receiving heart rate data from the HRM, the activity recording will come to an end. To stop the HRM data from transmitting to the vivofit, press and hold the button down until you see HEART OFF. The next time you sync the vivofit with your computer or smartphone, the activity will be transferred to Garmin Connect. The vivofit must record at least ten minutes of heart rate data to consider it an activity.

Please note: The vivofit does not use GPS and will not provide accurate pace and or distance for a walk or run. The data provided in Garmin Connect should be considered an approximate snapshot of your activity.
  • I have the same problem pairing Vivofit with hrm.
Garmin connect is up to date. PC is running Windows 7, tried both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and cleared the browser cache as suggested, but it hasn't made any difference.

The hrm pairs successfully with a Garmin Oregon, so that isn't the problem.
