Gear Widget

I've been successfully using the Gear widget since it's introduction. I recently retired a pair of shoes and added another, however, my Dashboard continues to show the retired shoes; not the pair recently added.

Anyone know how fix this? I don't want to remove the retired pair as it will remove them from past activities. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

  • Is it like the goals widget where you pretty much have to delete it and make another widget?

Don't know. If you delete the widget does it delete the associated gear?

That worked, thanks. I added a second gear widget and it displayed my new shoes. I then deleted the old widget. A workaround, ridiculous but a workaround nonetheless.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Some of Garmin's widgets are odd. Not very intuitive.....
  • So you couldn't use the "switch gear" function in the widget's settings?

The retiring of shoes doesn't have any impact on which pair of shoes is showed on the widget. The widget shows your selected pair. If you only have one active pair, then resetting the widget will behave as your workaround but that's not how you change the displayed shoes.

I don't see a "switch gear" option. All I have is in settings is:

    Add Gear
    Edit Gear
    Gear Details
    Mini View
    Go to Full Page
    Remove

    No switch.
  • Ah. I have switch as the first option. I wonder if "switch gear" only appears if you have more than one active pair? (I've got several pairs set-up, as I use different pairs for different types of training and also keep a couple at work for midweek lunchtime training to save carting the back and forth.)

If you temporarily unretire your old pair, does that option appear? That would mean the designers hadn't thought the process completely through, as (workaround aside) it would imply you must switch the widget over before retiring.

Bingo, that's exactly what happens; now I get a "switch to" option.
