Turn off automatic naming of activities?

I have noticed that activities that you upload automatically get a name. The problem is that the area that Garmin thinks I've run in is waaaaay off where I actually ran.
Think of it like you are running in Manhattan and Garmin tags the activity as Staten Island.

Is there anyway to turn off this feature? If it's not even remotely correct, you may as well skip it all together.

Numerous threads on this, answer is no. It was introduced in response to requests from users, it's accuracy probably depends on which map you're using.

Ok, thanks for the answer.
I don't understand how it can depend on the map I'm using though. The activity gets a name as soon as the fit file has been uploaded, which surely is handeled by a background task without any maps being involved. Or am I missing something?

You may be right. All I know is that my activities are correctly named.
