Calm down people! :)

With all the new announcements at CES + all the new rollouts of software things seem to have gotten a bit buggy.
I am sure the Garmin web team, connect team, app teams and hardware teams all have their big boots on and a can of raid trying to search out the issues.

Mostly making this post to thank the ones working on fixing the issues!

Keep up the good work!
  • I am getting a little fed up, everyday I expect it should be fixed by now and its not!! Please get your act together and get your website working!

Well, you complainers could just hand enter the data instead of Garmin working on an automated option and offer that to you all for FREE.

Since Garmin has opted to link the hardware to their software for the vivo* you can't get at the data unless you happen to capture an upload file on your computer or you can read the database on your Android phone.
I'm lucky as I'm not experiencing any issues.

Then you're not using a step tracker. Nice for you but annoying for people with vivofit/vivosmart trackers.
if you decide not to then be helpful instead of a jerk. note the error and provide the following information to Garmin.

None of the snarky points you offer are relevant since the problem is/was with the Garmin Connect back-end. It appears to have gotten caught up over the course of the day -- without any users doing anything. When I called Garmin yesterday to complain about their misleading tweets I suggested they put an alert on the Connect site. I'm glad to see they've done that (not that I imagine my suggestion had anything to do with it).

Is anyone else having the problem with vivosmart and 310xt not playing well together? I have had to reapply the ANT agent and un-pair and re-pair 2x to get my 310xt to synch with connect -- this started happening when I added the vivo smart - UGH - and... HOW do I update the vivo smart - it says to use Garmin Express -- but you cant use Garmin express if you have ANT - as it uninstalls ANT -- and web updater doesnt work either -- it cant find my device... Very Very Frustrating.
  • Give it a couple days, as I'm betting many of the issues now are a direct result of a bunch of new users getting trackers over the holidays. And I've never gotten a rash from a Garmin product!

Polar is going through the same problems right now, so the "newbie load problem" is also hitting other vendors.

While I understand and agree that all new Christmas devices may have contributed to this particular outage, this is just one of many I have experienced since purchasing my vivofit in August. This is not an isolated incident, and Garmin hasn't been terribly responsive during prior outages. This is where my frustration lies. I work in IT, and I get that outages happen and can't always be resolved right away. But if I didn't provide status updates on the regular, I would be getting called onto the carpet for it. I appreciate that Garmin has finally added a banner and status page for their services, but it is too little to late at this point.

I have a vivosmart, 310xt, 910xt , and a FR620. There seem to be a lot of conflicts between the apps, but this is what I do. Installed Express and updated the devices. Uninstall Express. Install Ant Agent 2.3.4. Pair with the XT devices. Install the Garmin phone app.

The vivosmart is aggressive in pairing with the phone app and it will handle your syncs. Use the Ant Agent to sync the XT devices.

The byproduct of this is it fixes the FirstBeat Athlete issues.

I then sync my FR610 using Wifi. You can also sync using the phone app, but the vivosmart has to be out of range or it will grab the connection.

Looks like if it the sync / steps report are now fixed.
  • Now that my reports are fixed, I actually have no complaints at all about my vivosmart with 2.71 Connect and 2.80 firmware. That's my problem. I am shy to upgrade. My phone isn't on the approved list but it works really well with my unit as is. (If it ain't broke - don't fix it). I still have a couple of editing issues (device settings and activities in Modern) in Connect online but they don't affect me significantly as I have nothing to edit at the moment.

As a matter of interest, does anyone have an Alcatel Fierce 2 or Pop Icon phone that you have upgraded to the latest versions with no ill effects?
