Calm down people! :)

With all the new announcements at CES + all the new rollouts of software things seem to have gotten a bit buggy.
I am sure the Garmin web team, connect team, app teams and hardware teams all have their big boots on and a can of raid trying to search out the issues.

Mostly making this post to thank the ones working on fixing the issues!

Keep up the good work!
  • Please. People pay a lot of money for their devices and expect it to work. "CES" and "rollouts" are not an excuse for bugs and downed servers. And there's nothing to thank...who knows if anyone is actually working on this and how hard if so. 4+ days now and still not resolved. Please.

And here I thought getting two Garmin Vivofit's for Christmas would be a good idea since I have had good luck with my Garmin 305 for running. But I use Sport Tracks software with the 305. I guess Garmin Connect is not ready for prime time. Looks like a lot of Garmin Christmas presents will be returned. (sigh) So frustrating, anyone know how good the FitBit is? I hate to give up on Garmin but then again I hate paying for frustrating experiences.

Give it a couple days, as I'm betting many of the issues now are a direct result of a bunch of new users getting trackers over the holidays. And I've never gotten a rash from a Garmin product!

Polar is going through the same problems right now, so the "newbie load problem" is also hitting other vendors.

Part of the issue that is extremely frustrating is they keep posting stickies saying everything is fixed when it obviously isn't since there are still numerous people having issues.

Fitbit has GREAT software and LOUSY hardware. So take your pick. Great software and lousy hardware with Fitbit or great hardware and lousy software with Garmin. Or go for one of the other fitness trackers.

I'm not sure why you say FB SW is great. You didn't use it much or pay for their "premium" version I guess. Looked pretty, but often wrong..... I'll put up with a two day outage long before I'll put up with bogus data (or a rash!)

In the year plus I used Fitbit, I almost never had a problem with their software (and I did use it all the time and I had the premium version, too). It worked great, almost never had connection problems to MFP, and the app rarely crashed. Garmin just sucks. The server has been down at least once a month since I got it, I can no longer connect to MFP and the Garmin Fit app crashed every time I used it. I just don't even bother using the Fit app anymore. My son is an app developer and had a Garmin for less than a week because he just could not stand the software. What's worse, is Garmin doesn't bother updating anyone on fixes. This isn't some fly-by-night company that just got into fitness trackers. Garmin should be better than this.

Why did you leave the Fitbit environment? So you could come here and complain? If you liked Fitbit so much, go back to their products. Their site is pretty, but I myself find accurate better than pretty....

I've had my vivofit since Xmas and this is my experience so far: 1. more failed syncs than successful ones; 2. no successful transfer of data between GC and MFP; 3. no calories in or out; 4. steps report doesn't show steps from the last four days even though the widget right next to it shows today's steps AND I'm getting badges for the steps I did over the last four days; 5. weight widget won't accept new entries; 6. a polite discussion with customer service thanking me for my patience but now more information than "it should be fixed soon"; 7. and to my horror I see lots of forum threads about similar problems over the past few months..... so this is not just a New Years problem. On the upside, the battery is still working!

If you actually read my post, you would see I said their hardware is horrible. I had endless problems with my trackers dying every three months. If Garmin would just fix their problems, I wouldn't be here complaining. Which, by the way, is not against the rules. If you don't like reading people complaints, don't read them. No one is forcing you to.
