Maps not showing properly on imported activities (i.e. uploaded GPX files)

I've just taken a look at some of the activities I did before I got my Edge 500 (i.e. prior to 27th December 2013!). They were tracked using Sports Tracker and the GPX files were exported and uploaded to Garmin Connect. While the stats of the activities look ok, the map pops up as the default one and doesn't change to zoom in on the actual location of the activity. Is anyone else seeing that and, if so, is there a solution?
  • That part is working normally as far as I can see.
  • Thanks for your reply. Are you able to a look at http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/419491985? This is the first activity prior to starting to use my Edge 500. For me this is showing a map of Overland Park, somewhere in the USA I guess! It should be near Ledbury in the UK. I tried re-importing the GPX for this activity after exporting it from Strava. It got the map right, but the distance was showing as 0.2 miles!
  • As an aside, in the Android Garmin Connect app, when I view that activity the map seems to be trying unsuccessfully to load. Seems odd.

Not showing as Ledbury for me either!
  • Thanks for that. Good to know it's not just me :-)
  • Something really bizarre is going on here. I exported the GPX file from Garmin Connect for that activity to compare against the same activity exported from Strava. With a bit of manipulation (different resolution on the floating point numbers and subtly different time formats, and one of them appears to manipulate the elevation!) the locations of the track points are pretty much the same. Now though, when I view the activity at Garmin Connect, the map appears properly! I've gone back through a few earlier activities and exported the GPX and, on refreshing the page, saw the map go back to where it should be!

    Odd or what?!
