I've using my Garmin for less that two weeks and am hugely disappointed with this product. Can't get it to sync. Doesn't seem to have a reports feature to look at day-to-day progress. Another disappointment - have to go to another website to enter calories. I've been a fan of Garmin GPS, but this product fails the quality test. I am considering returning the product.
It sounds like most of your issues are with Garmin Connect and not the Vivofit itself. The last couple of days have certainly been rocky for the website, and it still isn't showing all data, so I can appreciate your frustration. Regarding using Myfitnesspal, it doesn't bother me that much, as long as the synch works. I came from a competitor product with calorie information built into the site, but its food database and features were much more limited that MFP, and there was no IOS version, so the only way to log food was to go to their website. The good news is that this industry is on fire, so we will see lots of innovation and advancement over the next year, and every vendor is going to need to up their game to remain a player in an increasingly competitive space.
I have to agree. I received my garmin vivofit for Christmas. Since then, it has worked as advertised for a combined total of 2 days. It wasn't even that bad when just the auto sync wasn't working with MFP, at least I could go to garmin connect website and just press the sync button. But now even that does not work, coupled with syncing the vivofit with my phone issues that have recently started and I pretty much have a $130 watch.
Give it a day or so and I'm sure everything will be working again, hopefully sooner. Garmin, mfp and a few others are all working to resolve the issues folks are having.
I agree; I got my VivoFit for Christmas and I've been very disappointed. I asked for this over a FitBit because I like some of the features and the display, but the software hasn't worked at all since I got it. A company the size of Garmin should have ample resources to put towards this problem. The fact that it's still broken makes me think that they just don't care enough to get it fixed in a timely manner. They should not have been actively selling and promoting this product at Christmas time if they knew it wasn't working and they weren't going to fix it anytime soon. I'M SO MAD and I've told just about everyone I know to not buy this product. Giving it one more week before I return the one I have and get the FitBit. I don't have much confidence that anything will be done before then :(

But it has now been three days that sync doesn't work, and these outages occur every few weeks. MFP auto sync hasn't worked for months. It is too late for me to return my vivofit, so it seems I basically wasted $130. The vivofit itself works fine, but the inability to review the data renders it virtually useless. I used to LOVE Garmin. But now they are spending too much time on new products and too little time maintaining what they currently offer.
I agree that Garmin doesn't care enough about existing customers. The inability to sync usually happens on weekends, especially holiday weekends, and doesn't get resolved until a Monday or Tuesday. Some of the new products look really nice, but I have put a hold on all future Garmin products until they get a reliable website. Right now I am manually logging my steps on a calendar with a felt-tip pen. So far the calendar hasn't crashed.
