As I can not get any of the Garmin software to speak nicely to my Garmin Etrex Vista HCx despite installing Communicator (which didn't) and Express (which wasn't as it doesn't speak to anything pre Edge)
Therefore I use a 3rd party software which speaks nicely to my Garmin and I then create a gpx file that I can then upload to Garmin Connect which then syncs to Strava.
Weird thing is Garmin Connect website doesnot display any speed data but it displays the time taken and shows the route taken but over on Strava the synced activity does display average speed and max speed data.
All of these problems connecting my Garmin Etrex HCx is making me consider getting a more recent model but then I see on this forum lots of people having similar issues getting their devices to connect when using an Apple Mac
