Manual upload of .tcx from Training Center to Garmin Connect fails

Hi!
I have 5 years worth of workouts stored in my Training Center and wants to upload them all to Garmin Connect. I have exported it to 37 files all below 30 Mb (I read somewhere that this is the max limit), but uploading a file still fails.

I have had a problem earlier with uploading tcx-files including manually added workouts, so I tried the suggestion here https://forums.garmin.com/archive/index.php/t-154319.html and removed all the "Creator"-parts from the application, but it still doesn't help. I can add that I tried uploading a single workout edited in this way, and that worked fine.

The strangest thing is that it works when trying to upload to Endomondo... (but as the upload limit there is 10 Mb, I chose a subset of the workouts in each file).

Any suggestions? It is not possible to upload each workout separately, as it sums to more than a 1000 workouts. I also do not want to import via Endomondo, as I then lose all my notes added to each workout...

I need some way of getting my previous years of training into GC, and would appreciate any suggestions!

Anne
  • What kind of device do you have? I have an edge500 which connects via a usb cable and I can put files back on it as well as take them off. Once I wanted to get a bunch of saved activities on my computer to one of the fitness sites. Don't remember if it was GC or Strava or Mapmyride, but any how, they only wanted to take them one at a time from my computer. However I noted that when they take from my edge, they were happy to take multiple activities at a time. So I copied all the activity files back to my edge500 and it worked. However after doing that, I didn't remove the files from my edge and when I started it for a ride afterwards, it took quite a while for it to finish starting. I presumed it to be that it was cataloging all those new files on it, but I can't be sure. After that it was normal, even when I block deleted them.

I've also seen people mention free apps or utilities you can get off the web, but I don't remember the names.

Hi, and thanks for responding! I have a Garmin Forerunner 910XT since a year back (before that another Forerunner model (can't remember the number)). Anyway, I don't think I can get my workouts back into the Forerunner, once deleted... unfortunately.
Surely the Garmin developers must have a way that works for taking old workouts along, now that TC is no longer supported?
I can check out apps, but so far I've only seen those that move between webbased alternatives (endomondo, strava, etc)

I'm sure that it wouldn't be a big issue to code, but I also doubt that Garmin or any other big company would want to assume the implied support they would have to provide for releasing something like that. With any software, no matter how simple, there will always be those it won't work correctly for.

If you program, there is a development sub-forum. I've never looked to see if Garmin gives the information needed to code a program to send stuff to GC.
