How to sync cycling activites in GPS enabled apps like Strava into Garmin Connect?

I have searched for an answer to this without success.

If I import a GPX file (say from Strava) into GC it all comes across ok as an activity complete with details and calories.

But those calories dont seem to be appearing in the calories calorie in/out window as a active calorie burn.

So my question is if I am using Strava (or runtastic or Wahoo) apps for GPS tracking my cycling activities, what is the secret to have these
(preferably automatically) appear in Garmin Connect with those burned calories appearing as active calories?

I use a Vivosmart for steps/running but I need a way to sync GPS cycling app data into GC.

Thanks
  • Why not sync your devices to Garmin Connect, then let Strava grab the data from GC? Would that get your Calorie in/out data? I don't use GC much anymore so I can't answer your question with certainty. However I've seen Strava and other fitness sites claim to be able to sync from the Garmin Connect website.

My Garmin device is a Vivosmart which needs some fancy ANT+ gear to track cycling activities. I dont need fancy ANT+ gear. There are great iOS apps using the iPhone GPS of course that provide all the cycling computer data I require.

So my challenge (and it is a challenge) is how to sync this data from a cycling iOS app (I dont mind which cycling app I use .... Starva, Wahoo, Runtastic .... they all do what I need which is tracking the route, speed, elevation etc) into the Garmin system so it combines with my Vivosmart steps and Garmin calorie in/out data.

So my issue is a cycling app is producing the activity data. Not the Garmin system. And I need to get the data in to the Garmin system so it is all centralised.

When I refer to Garmin Connect I mean the Garmin system.

    Thanks,
