These are some of the problems i am having with Garmin Connect over the last few days. Auto naming of Runs... i live in Dublin , Ireland and the Runs are being named as "Kilkeel" which is on the other side of the country! I have noticed exactly the same naming problem when i view others runs in the same area. Second and very annoying problem is that trying to do a full edit on activities in either "Classic" or "Modern" views wont work.. just times out or does nothing when clicked.
I am experiencing the same problems. All runs are being recorded as "Kilkeel Running", even though I am running in Dublin. Also, cannot add a manual entry. Finally, a run last Sunday is reapperaring every day as "today" in my activities and I can't change the date back to the correct date.
Ahh if ye had gone on boards.ie you'd have gotten the answer ages ago :)
GC attempts to put a location on your activity so it picks the closest town to your activity. But its only set up for UK/NI not IRL so hence all towns used will be an NI town.
Well, that's not really an answer to the problem. It never used to do this until about 2 weeks ago, so why the sudden change? And more importantly, what is the fix?
There isn't a 'fix'. For most of us the auto naming works, for some it doesn't, although I know one person complained and it was then pointed out to him that the name was actually correct, just that he didn't know it!
The change was introduced as many users complained about an activity being labelled 'untitled'.
I have this problem too. Editing just doesn't work unless I use Incognito mode in my browser and then edit via the calendar view. Software really seems unstable. Also, I get the Kilkeel Running title which, as was posted above makes no sense. I am also in Dublin. Why would the name not have any correlation to my location. It might as well still be 'Untitled'. If you are going to have some suggestion of location, then make it at least vaguely accurate. Saying 'You can't please everyone' does not come across very well. I don't think the comments above are unreasonable.
Just checking in here for the first time with the same 'Kilkeel' problem. It's ridiculous to suggest that defaulting to something like 'Kilkeel' as best nearest place instead of say Dublin is acceptable or makes any sense. To be honest I'm about to upgrade shortly and am tired of Garmin online connectivity and 'Kilkeel' problem. Why it can't accurately geotag based on the maps is beyond me. I am pleased to find out at least that it's a shared problem and just another example of a large consumer tech company not getting their act together.
