problem uploading to connect

My device is a Garmin Dakota 20.

I have been uploading my data to Garmin connect without any problem for more than two years. Suddenly, four days ago on Dec 19, without me making any changes to either the GPS device or the Garmin connect settings, my uploads began to behave strangely. Firstly, the activity name which always appeared as Untitled now is appearing as Islas Uncategorized. Secondly, the values for distance, moving speed, average speed, and moving time are all shown as zero values, although the route is mapped correctly on the google map and the graphs of speed, elevation and heart rate are all drawn correctly.

I have tried uploading the data in both classic and modern views with the same results. I also reset my gps to factory settings to no avail.

Examination of the gpx file shows no difference between old files that loaded correctly and the ones that now are screwing up. Searching for the terms "Islas" and "Uncategorized" in the gpx files returned negative results.

I am at a dead end here, which is why I am appealing for your help.

Cheers,
doug brown

Same problem with Forerunner 110, Firefox 32, Ubuntu 14.04 using garmin-plugin:
upon clicking on the Upload button (classic view) a blank window opens, no device
detection, no upload. Switched to modern, activities, import, loaded the .fit file
(not acknowledged by the program, by the way). The file is there, time and calories
are displayed, but there is nothing in the graph, neither in modern nor in classic.
The problem started about a week ago, almost certainly with the introduction of
the new 14.11 version of the connect program.
Thank you for fixing this, programmers.

Since the Garmin Connect website downtime Thursday 12/18/14, GPX files uploaded as activities no longer interpret the correct mileage length, or associated calculations. Time and elevation appear to be known, but not distance.

I can *edit* the distance of the track and the avg speed gets calculated for the whole trip, but the pace is flat and the max speed is the same as the avg speed. The GPX original file is from an Oregon 550, same as all days preceding Thursday which worked just fine.

When I look at my green elevation plot and select 'over distance', the mileage shows up incorrectly at the bottom of the graphic. What should be 1 mile shows as 0.001 miles. That's why my 3.8 mile hike shows as 0.00 miles, it's being interpreted as 0.0038 miles, and thinks I must have walked it incredibly slow.

This is confirmed by uploading a nuvi GPX track of 26.1 miles, which shows as 0.03 miles. They're somehow 3 decimal places off on the distance.

See https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?176681-GPX-Activities-uploaded-no-longer-have-length-distance for several users with the same problem.

Where might we post this information so that Garmin might see it? Do they monitor these forums? I suppose I'm like a lot of users, I only came here when I had a problem and have no idea on the workings of Garmin's update/issues process.

    Hi!

I have similar issues (device Forerunner 305) on OS X. In classic upload the plugin does not show buttons any more, just blank rectangle. If I download the data using Ascent (downloads always just fine) and upload GPX via Activity-Import in the modern UI, I get 1/1000 of the distance.
    Please fix this asap...

    upload problem with fenix 2

I have the same problem with Fenix 2. When trying to upload, i get a blank screen , when trying to download workouts i get a blank screen. The device is recognized correctly both on endomondo, and on garmin express, but is totally "transparent" to connect. This has been the situation for at least a week. The only advice given by product support is to do a factory reset. Obviously , did nothing but reset all my user settings......
  • I have exactly the same problem while uploading routes from my Dakota 20. I am glad i am not the only one. I can still upload correctly to BaseCamp.
Connect has become increasingly more irritating...
  • same here, blank screens when sending courses to device and when trying to transfer data from 810 unit to device, upload button. just white blank boxes. come on garmin!
