Gear feature

I'm having difficulty using this feature. I have wanted this feature for a long time and was so excited when I saw it being added. That being said...I have multiple shoes for running and it only allows me to select 1 under running and it will make it the default shoe. Is there a way to add multiple shoes and have them all be flagged as running but only have 1 as the default shoe for when activities are added this shoe will automatically get added but if I would like to change it to some other running shoe it will allow me to?
For example: I run most days, easy and long runs with a particular shoe, but when doing hard interval workouts I usually use flats/racing shoes...sometimes I even use spikes. When I try to change the gear on these workouts the only shoe that will come up to add is the default running shoe but that is the only shoe it allows me to flag for running thus no other shoe will come up. If try to tag another shoe for running then that one gets set to default and my other shoe stops being flagged as running and then my racing flats become the automatic for all the future runs.. I hate this...is there a way around this? :(
  • I have the same problems - this cannot possibly have been tested with any runners involved - and obviously without looking at the way other sites have implemented it - it's so frustrating when something like this is implemented and for the same amount of effort it could have been done properly
  • Same here...this works fine. The only few things I've noticed that would be nice to fix:
    1) Let the user modify the start date. The only option to change the start date is to delete the shoe and start over.
    2) Add notes to a shoe.
    3) I shouldn't have to set a max mileage to get a distance report widget.

Other than those it seems to work just fine. I have multiple pairs of shoes...no issues.

None of my runs allow for any other shoe to be added but the default. When the drop down comes up the only shoe available for selection is the one that is tagged under running. Any other shoe with any other default will not come up so I have no way of selecting or hovering over the negative symbol. Are your activities tagged differently? If you look at the attached images I have added two running shoes yet when i got to edit my runs only one shoe comes up. I've added several shoes and same result. Is it a setting on how I should post my runs that would allow me to have more than one shoe? Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thank you MHOOGLAND that fixed it!
  • I can't add any shoe (default or not) to an activity. The error message I get is "Sorry, we were unable to process your request. Please try again." I have never been able to get past that error. For me, it's not a big deal but I'd like to know why.
  • Would anyone else like the ability, or know how to, to specify an already run distance to a shoe when entering it? I have a number of road and trail shoes in rotation. I do have all the runs for each shoe documented in RubiTracks (which I bought mostly because GC didn't do equipment). Now if I want to enter those shoes in GC, in order to get their current mileage up to date it would appear that I have to go in and manually associate each old workout with each shoe. That's hundreds of runs. Is there a way just to specify a shoe already has 100 miles on it?
  • You cannot inidicate a starting mileage with gear.

Personally I don't get the big deal but I don't keep my shoes around for much longer than 4 months.
