Can someone explain how to upload on the modern layout. My device does not seem to sync and I cannot add any new rides. I have tried using the old screen but now just get a blank screen when I press upload.
Is this the only way to do it? I have a lot of rides to import and to do them one by one will take a long time. Does the old system not work any more. My garmin edge always uploaded all new rides with one click. This seems to be a massive step backwards and more non user friendly than ever.
No, you're supposed to install Garmin Express on your computer. Once you've done that, told Express about your devices, and linked them to your Garmin Connect account, Express will upload rides automatically (more than one if necessary) every time you plug your device in. Some of the newer devices (Edge 1000, Forerunner 620, 920XT(?)) have built in WiFi, and as I understand it, they'll upload automatically once they come into range of a WiFi router they know about. They're making it easier, not harder.
Now of course, if you can't use Express (there are versions for only OS X and Windows, and old enough versions of both aren't supported), then it's maybe a little more difficult, but you already couldn't use Communicator Plugin.
I have same problems with classic layout, just blank page. And I have also Edge and it's big step for backwards if I have to upload every ride manually. I have garminExpress already on my PC and it doesnt help anything. What about 910XT, is classic layout working with that device? Anyway, something have to do that upload is as easy as it was!
if you get Garmin Express installed correctly then uploads are even easier than with the classic GC. If you've installed Garmin Express and it's not working for you, then post a message in the Garmin Express sub-forum with any details you might have, especially what device you are using.
Note that Garmin Connect is considered a "fitness" site, so if your device is not categorized by Garmin as one of their "fitness" devices, then it still may not sync with the modern GC even if it uploaded with the classic GC. However many of their "on the trail" devices do, but not all. I've no idea if Garmin publishes what devices are compatible with Garmin Express syncing to Garmin Connect.

GarminExpress reinstalled and now upload works fine. Edge upload is not easier than it was with cable and classic layout but I have just upload those activities in modern layout.
