Why no CrossFit Category?

Am I missing something here, there is no "CrossFit" exercise option listed in the Categories for workouts? Really? I see Driving, Flying, Boating, and even Stand up Paddle Boarding listed under "Other"? How could CrossFit which I would say is a more commonly performed and relevant fitness activity than "Driving" and "Stand up Paddle Boarding" not make the list?

Please add "CrossFit" to the "Other" list, I am sure one of the "Garmin Geeks" can go in and add just one more addition to that directory... I know you can do it....

  • I second this. Please add a CrossFit category.

  • Garmin does not need to add more categories...if half the users on this board had their wish there would be dozens more which is ridiculous. Garmin just needs to allow users to create their own custom categories which solves the problem for everyone.

Maybe something like "cross-training" which would include a slew of other activities other than just cross fit. I often with for this. I am surprised something like that was never added in the first place since random things like inline skating are in there.
  • Bumping this request from 2014. I'd really like to see Garmin create a CrossFit category similarly to Suunto and Polar. I'm aware a custom category can be created but that still gives a 2nd class citizen customer experience. CrossFit has over 13 000 affiliate gyms globally and is still today one of the fastest growing training forms.

Especially with the new FirstBeat features I'm interested in a holistic view of how different activities cumulatively affect my performance and recovery. Making a native CrossFit activity would hence improve the algorithms to consider the strain of CrossFit (combination of olympic lifting, HIIT and gymnastics) compared to the generic "Other activity". FirstBeat has also written about it here https://www.firstbeat.com/en/blog/firstbeat-helping-crossfit-athletes-recover-better/

Garmin (and FirstBeat) are also sponsoring CrossFit events. (eg. http://www.unbroken.fi/partners) so it seems really weird not to have a native CrossFit activity.

Really hoping to see a native activity soon on my FR935.

And bumping this again. Already looking for other devices that have a Crossfit category as it became my main sport.

It doesn't make any sense, please listen your users, you have categories like "Drone", "Rollerblades", "Fly", "Snow Bike", "Drive", how all of those are more relevant as Crossfit?

We are not asking for "play computer games" or "Handstand walk" category. If you take a look to the market and to your customers you will realize there are a lot of frustrations related to get Crossfit measures with Garmin devices.

Is that so hard to do?
Of course I understand you can't implement all customers requests, but you should, at least ask yourself if it should be implemented or not.

Please take a look on it, do some research..

Btw, I use a Garmin Fenix 5, and there are so much work to do on your app, web site, developers API, but we are just asking for a small..item!

You seem to imply that product and/or software design staff at Garmin have not already ask themselves that question.

Asking that question, and coming up with an answer for internal decision-making purposes, does not imply giving feature requesters either an update or a reply to advise them of the status or the decision.

It is not specific to the Software Design Staff, that team wouldn't that authority, think and implement. We I said you, is garmin in general, is design team, developers team, product team, all the people related to the app.

And yes, I know that, from an idea, to implement it, there is a "big road", but, if you can see this post started on 2014, 4 years ago, probably I'm being naive but, it seams to be a so simple request, but don't leave us (your customers) on dark,
Is it already on your backlog? Please share with us,
Is there a date to the a next step to implement it? Please share with us.
Is it much more complex then we think? Please share with us.

The users are requesting a new category, and the answers are "We can't do everything you ask for", so the users keep asking for it, with a thought, "probably it was requested for few people, if I also ask for it, I'm one more, and probably we will get on the number of people necessary to be listen".

I'm not sayng you are doing a bad job, otherwise I wouldn't buy a device from your brand and use it.
The app had a huge upgrade and it is much better now, and if there are customers asking for features and new stuff, it is good, that means your customers are happy and want to help to turn your product, in a product even better, but from my point of view you /Garmin in general) are failing on customer comunication.
